Patricia’s Corner
I’m not an “ammie rider”, I just work with them in my day job as ECOGOLD’s Marketing VP and now on this blog…
I figured I would introduce myself, as I’m the site admin, do the introductions on many posts, write a few articles, cover events etc, so you see my name here & there, and people might be wondering who this Patricia person is.
I’m a big fan of blogs in general, and probably follow 20-30 amateur rider blogs on my Google reader.
I created this site after our “Ammie Experience at the 2011 Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event”. Through ECOGOLD’s Facebook page, we recruited a team of bloggers who wrote articles and posted photos during the event. They got to meet our sponsored riders, have private course walks and do all kinds of cool stuff, which they would then write about on ECOGOLD’s blog. The bloggers were so talented and we all had such a blast, that it was sad to say goodbye at the end.
A few days later, walking my dogs, I had this crazy flash of spinning-off the Ammie Blog into a real website, creating a platform where all Amateur Riders of English Disciplines would be represented: Hunter/Jumper, Dressage and Eventing. So off I went to recruit some Dressage and Hunter/Jumper riders.
We officially launched Horse Junkies United on May 17, 2011. In a few months, it has become a destination and a platform that Amateur Riders have embraced… and even the Pros check it out from time to time.
I think we have created something quite special and I just want to say a huge thanks to the HJU bloggers and contributors, who blow me away every day with their talent, passion and energy. It is a great privilege, and very rewarding to me on a personal level, to be able to give them a voice.
If you want to send us articles, want to join our team of bloggers or have comments, please email me at info@horsejunkiesunited.com
Cheers,
Patricia
PS – I want to share one of the first emails we ever received, on May 18, 2011. We’d only been live for 24 hrs…
“I was only introduced to HorseJunkiesUnited.com yesterday, but it’s already become one of my favorite websites!! I’ve told all my friends to check it out, and I can’t seem to stop checking in for new articles! It’s about time someone started something for amateurs, we only make up a majority of the population! THANK YOU!!!” ~ Jen

Hi Patricia;
Not sure if you’d be interested, but I would be willing to answer tack-related questions if you feel it would add to the site…
Thanks,
Tracey
