Submissions are now open for the 2nd HJU Ammie Educational Grant, presented by ECOGOLD. If you sent an application in January, you don’t need to resend the whole thing, just the new clinic information.
In January, Horse Junkies United developed an exciting new educational opportunity for Adult Amateur riders. After posing the question “If someone were to put a program together to benefit ammie riders, what should it offer?” HJU bloggers and readers agreed that education is at the top of the list.
Thus was created the Horse Junkies United Ammie Educational Grant. Available to adult amateur riders aged 25 years-old or older, the grant will cover the cost to enter a clinic, lesson with a pro or symposium.
The first sponsor to support HJU’s Ammie Educational Grant Program is saddle pad and protective boot manufacturer ECOGOLD.
“Ecogold is extremely proud to be associated with this program,” said Vice President of Marketing Patricia Da Silva. “Adult amateur riders are at the core of the sport, and we feel it is important to invest in their development and help them become better riders.”
The first recipient of HJU’s Ammie Educational Grant, Briana Timmerman, an event rider from South Carolina, will be attending the Lucinda Green clinic at the Gibbes Farm in St. Matthews SC in April. “Thank you Horse Junkies United and ECOGOLD! This will be the 2nd professional clinic I have ever been able to attend in my life,” said Briana. “The financial support means that my horse, Henry, and I will be able to access training not otherwise available to us. We are currently competing Novice. But under Lucinda Green’s tutelage, I think we will be able to move up to training…. This will be such a pivotal moment in our learning! We’ve been aiming towards the Long Format at Southern 8ths for the last two years and this will be critical to building our confidence.”
Applicants must be at least 25 years old and write an article about their journey and goals as a rider and provide details of the educational experience that they would like to attend. The grant is applicable to any of the three main English disciplines—hunter/jumper, eventing or dressage—and cannot be used for regular lessons. A winner will be picked at random and will be required to email a report of their educational experience to Horse Junkies United within one week of the event.
- The next grant will be awarded in April 2012 for an event in May, June or July 2012.
- The grant will cover the entry fee or auditing fee only and will be paid directly to the event. Travel and other costs will be at the rider’s expense.
- The deadline for submissions is March 16 2012. The winner will be announced a few days later.
To be considered, send your article, information about the educational opportunity, as well as a photo (make sure you have the rights) to info@horsejunkiesunited.com.
