The "Making Of" the Lit Quadrille – Behind the Scenes at the Royal Winter Fair
| November 20, 2011 | Posted by Patricia under Royal Horse Show |
One of the most amazing performances at this year’s Royal Winter Fair, was undoubtedly, the Lit Quadrille (aka Dressage in the Dark). After seeing it live, I went home wondering about the mechanics of the thing… How/where do they put the lights? How do they get their horses not to freak out? How can the riders see where they are going?
Fortunately, they had another performance later in the week and I was kindly invited to go the barns, where I could watch them get ready and ask them a gazillion questions – thanks ladies! What resulted is a cool reality-tv style video “behind the scenes” at the Royal.
I have to say that I was really impressed with the horses. They were all incredibly calm, even when they were all lit up like Christmas trees. (They looked so funny… hee hee). And as the creator of the quadrille, Evi Pracht, mentions in the video, they are amazing in the performance, as they can barely see anything – so they have to put a lot of trust in their rider. Good ponies!
Without further ado, here’s our first reality-tv video ever… behind the scenes, at the Royal Winter Fair.
Enjoy “The Making Of the Lit Quadrille”!
and the end result: a spectacular performance!
