Sunday at AETA – Organic Treats, Sore-No-More and a Dubarry Extravaganza!

If you missed my previous articles from AETA, the American Equestrian Trade Association show – here is Part 1 (Five Star Tack, Charles Owen, FITS, Jumpline Designs, Dark Horse Chocolates), Part 2 (Irideon, Sergio Grasso, Der Dau, Asmar Equestrian), Part 3 (Behind the Scenes at the Horse Radio Network), Part 4 (Kerrits, Illuminated Hoof Pick).
Wondering about the trade show floor, I ended up at the Withers and Withers Horse Treats stand and had the pleasure to meet owners Deb and Neil Withers. Their company makes horse treats made with Organic and Fair Trade ingredients. Organic and Fair trade…now, that’s right up my alley!
Their sweet horse treats are sourced from organic, unprocessed, fairly traded raw cane sugar and milled flax seed. They are rich in molasses and infused with a trigger dose of beneficial herbs. They have even recently developed a treat for insulin resistant horses.
Withers & Withers Horse Treats come in cute flip-lid tins, which reminded me of tea boxes. They fit in grooming boxes, and contain almost 200 treats. The painting on the boxes features company founder, dressage rider Deb Withers with her horse Norman.
Then, I went to hang out with Melissa Bennington from Arenus. I met Melissa this spring at the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event, as we sponsor some of the same riders (Boyd Martin and Doug Payne).
If the name Arenus doesn’t ring any bells, I don’t blame you. None of their products are called Arenus. Melissa told me that it used to be another company, that had bought or merged with another one and then it was part of another group or something like that… They make Assure Guard, Steadfast, Equilite, and a product that HJU’s expert groom Sandra loves…. Sore-No-More!

Melissa is an expert and explains everything there is to know about supplements. Plus, she's really nice!
Last but definitely not least, I headed over the Dubarry stand to see if the Dubarry crew would be standing in buckets…(they weren’t)
Most people know “THE” mythical Dubarry boot made with a high-tech Gore-Tex lining, which makes it waterproof and breathable and ideal to walk a cross-country course. But that’s only one of their many products.
Dubarry has an extensive clothing and footwear line… and not only for the equestrian market. In fact, they are just as popular in the yatching market, so their line is quite diverse.
Ok, enough talking… I think everyone wants to see their fabulous gear. Before I start posting photos (and there are many), I want to thank Danny Hulse and the entire Dubarry team at AETA. I had them bring out every single item Dubarry makes, in every colour, touched every piece, had them bring the mannequin outside, inside, a bit to the left…can you turn it around please, hmmm… can you try under this light? I must have asked a gazillion questions and they probably all had to take an Advil after my departure. They could not have been nicer and more patient throughout the whole thing. So two big thumbs up for the Dubarry crew!

They're called Extra Fit... so you won't have to fight with your boots and pinch a nerve in your back to pull them up

The lining (also made by Gore) is 4 times as warm as the one in their normal boots = perfect for our Canadian winters!

And if you are planning a North Pole expedition or going to Burghley... get their alpaca socks! They are super warm & the trendy way to wear them is to show about 1" on top of the boot
And this concludes my AETA recaps – I will hopefully, have a couple more things coming, but this was the last daily report. Thank You very much to all the AETA vendors, who graciously took the time to show me their collection. I know how hard the company owners and reps work to bring their products to market, and how exhausting these shows can be.
